Two years ago I couldn’t possibly imagine I’d be saying this right now. I came back from Disneyland Paris in 2015 and just KNEW I needed to return to a Disney park ASAP. I’d been only once to Disneyland Paris when I was 8 with my parents and as much as the photos say I had a wonderful time, I can’t exactly say I remember it all that well. The bits of memories I do have from that holiday are mostly my dad getting ill from eating mussels (which he’s allergic to) in the Newport Bay Hotel restaurant and meeting Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee at an amazing character breakfast. My mum and I dug the photos out recently and had such a lovely time looking back at them. But genuinely, I don’t think you can FULLY appreciate the magic of a Disney park until you’re an adult. Is that controversial? Who knows! But less than a year after that 2015 trip I was back in the magic with not only one but two of my best friends and we had the must wonderful time in that special Disney bubble. I got home and had the same blues as the year before, however Chris and I had just moved into our house, money was a little tight and I still needed to convince him to splurge so much money on a holiday that he wasn’t exactly sold on… and then they opened Pandora! Chris may be one of the only people in the world who ranks Avatar as one of his favourite films but what an absolute W I N for me, our holiday was booked. And so in exactly 50 days from me writing this post we will be on our way to Florida with two of our favourite people in the world. I am ecstatic with excitement.
Lilly and I sat down a month or so ago and mapped out our days as we have so much to do and explore. I booked tickets for Disney, Universal and the Kennedy Space Center through Attractions Tickets Direct who I cannot rate highly enough, they’re fantastic (not spon)! When you book with them they have a great incentive where you can swap out your deal if a better one comes along before you’ve paid off the full balance. Because of this I was able to bag the four of us free tickets for Kennedy Space Center in place of the $20 Planet Hollywood Gift Card that was included with the price of the tickets, saving us $120 overall!
Unforunately we’re not on the Disney Dining Plan, as we’re staying off site in a villa in Kissimmee as we tried to keep the cost as low as possible and for two couples a villa definitely worked out as the best option. We have our own pool, own rooms and even a spare, plus we of course have a kitchen/dining area so can eat to our hearts content whilst we’re at “home” as I’m planning to go slightly crazy in Walmart. Because of this any advice on eating cheap around the parks or where to dine around International Drive and Kissimmee is of course welcomed.
As much as I’m excited about Universal (erm hello, Harry Potter), Disney is what this holiday is about for me. There is just nothing else that equates to the feeling of being in a Disney park, it’s so so magical and as soon as you step through the gates and see the castle you immediately understand what it’s all about. Visiting DLP as an adult opened my eyes to this and also made me throw myself into the online Disney community which has made me some incredible friends. I cannot wait to be skipping down Main Street USA, feeling like a princess, snapping away for Instagram in front of the Purple Wall AND eating Mickey shaped snacks all day long. We have so much planned, including a first day breakfast at Be Our Guest and a brunch with Daisy and Donald at Animal Kingdom. I’m absolutely itching to get my Fastpasses booked now and secure us our place in line for the very very popular Flight of Passage in Pandora. My tickets are all linked up, as well as my Tower of Terror themed bright orange Magic Band, all of our documents are in order and it’s all starting to actually feel like a reality, not long now!
Please send me all the tips you have for visiting Walt Disney World, especially for first timers staying off site. I’ve watched so many vlogs and read so many vlogs, seen so many Instagram posts, but I just feel like you can’t be too prepared for a holiday like this!
Until next time amigos,
