Whether you love it or hate it, Valentines is looming and I’ve seen so many lovely posts about what to buy for your guy or gal. Chris and I don’t really celebrate in a massive way but we will get each other a card and a lil gift. With Valentines falling on a Tuesday this year, we’re both working, so I’m going to spend the evening cuddled up on the sofa with the cat and a large glass of white, watching my ultimate chick flick rom com V Day themed movies. Here’s a run down of my options for the big day:
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason – I’m only going for the second Bridget film as I haven’t managed to grab myself the latest one on DVD yet (Patrick Dempsey, swoooon). I LOVE the whole falling off the ski lift “mit baby” fiasco and the Thailand drug trip. HILAR.
Serendipity – I actually watched this only recently and realised my love for it again, I think it popped up in the Christmas section of Netflix but it’s really not all that Christmassy. A great film for believers in fate and love at first sight.
Notting Hill – Classic. Is there anything better than Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, great British comedy and Ronan Keating playing over that scene in the garden?
Love Actually – Yes, more Hugh Grant. There will be a lot of Hugh Grant, I love him. I know some people would also consider this as a Christmas film but it’s one of my all time favourites and I will watch it all year round. “There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus”?
Sex and the City – Carrie and the gals are the ultimate team to get you through Valentines whether you’re single or in a relationship. I definitely prefer the first movie to the second too!
Pretty Woman – *cue singing and strutting* the film that taught me about condoms and cutlery.
Dirty Dancing – My all time favourite film.
Ghost – I bloody miss Patrick Swayze. This one’s an absolute tear jerker every single time so I’ll make sure I’ve taken my make-up off and got the tissues at the ready.
Moulin Rouge – LOVE LIFTS US UP WHERE WE BELONG. I adore Moulin Rouge. I adore Baz Luhrman. Perfect.
Music & Lyrics – This film is SO cheesy but like I say, I love Hugh Grant and I also love Drew Barrymore, it’s such a feel good, it’s-a-bit-shit-but-that’s-why-it’s-great sorta film.
These are actually some of my all time favourites because any excuse for a rom com is fiiiine by me! I’m secretly soppy at heart. Are you going out for Valentines or are you celebrating at home? Celebrating with friends or not celebrating at all? Let me know!
