So then you lot, I’m not lying am I when I say it’s the most wonderful time of the year!? I bloody well love Christmas but Halloween just SCREAMS out to my inner emo and I have a splendid time decorating my house and planning my costume. This year I got my hands on a gold sparkly light up pumpkin from Aldi which changes colour and is just all round fab-u-louuuusss. I’m absolutely useless at pumpkin carving so this seemed like a great alternative and I can keep it for next year too, plus it only cost me £3.99.
As much as I freaking love Halloween I often find I need loads of inspiration to settle on a good costume idea or come up with super fun things to do on the night itself. When I eventually have kids I will FO SHO be taking them out trick or treating, I miss donning my witches hat every year and filling huge bowls with sweeties to last right through until Christmas. This is why adulting sucks. Although let’s face it, I will have eaten most of the sweets I get in for the trick or treaters before they actually arrive at the door. So I decided pretty early on this year that I wanted to go as someone from Grey’s Anatomy, so keep a cheeky eye on my Instagram for that coming up, but what on earth were we going to do to make pre drinks super super fun!? My friends and I always go to a local rock night for Halloween and this year will be no different, Friday’s are where it’s at and so Friday 27th will see us donning our costumes and rocking out until 3:30am. Obviously we need to prepare with plenty of cocktails! When Festive Lights reached out to me about their Halloween pack I was more than thrilled to jump on board. They’ve included loads of inspo for your Halloween, whether you’re having a party at home, going over to a friends’ or going for a night out with the gang. I got my best mate round and we decided to have a go at some of the cocktails…
Okay so we arrived at Asda prepped and ready to get all the booze and bits we needed for our cocktail evening (accompanied by pizza of course). Unfortunately we weren’t able to get our hands on everything we wanted, so we did end up having to tweak the ones we did make, but they still tasted great, even if I do say so myself *insert sassy hand emoji*.
We really wanted to give the “IT” themed layered jelly shots whirl, however we couldn’t get hold of any veggie friendly make it yoself jelly in Asda apart from Hartley’s glitter jelly, HELL-OOOO. I’d never tried this before but oh gosh is it cool!? Seriously is there anything better than edible glitter? I think not. We whacked some raspberry Sourz into the bottom of the shot glasses and then filled up with the blue glitter jelly mixture. They turned out looking really cool, like some sort of nutty professor concoction, so definitely still in keeping with the Halloween theme, especially on this flipping good £1 skull tray (again Asda). We had loads of jelly left over so if you needed to cater for a lot of people you’d definitely be able to and could even add more Sourz or sub this out for a different tipple if you so fancy.
Another of the suggestions in the pack was the ‘Joker Juice’, however Asda had absolutely no blue caracao in sight so we couldn’t turn the cocktail Joker purple. The main ingredient in this one however is cranberry juice and so we went for a blood red sorta thing instead which is definitely more than perfect for All Hallows Eve. I love the idea of all of the film and TV themed cocktails that Festive Lights have come up with and would definitely go all out and make these if I were having a themed party! You could even use these ideas for parties throughout the year as there’s a Game of Thrones one and a Stranger Things one in there which are seriously cool, perfect for nights in binging your fave shows too tbh.
We had so much fun making these cocktails so thank you to Festive Lights for providing the ideas for these! Their Halloween pack is full of other great ideas too including Halloween crafts and games, all designed for teens and adults because obviously we love Halloween too! You’re never too old in my opinion. LET’S GET SPOOPY.
Find the party pack HERE!!!!!! The amazing haunted Halloween tableware plus the skull tray were all £1 each from Asda, yep that’s right ONE ENGLISH POUND. I love it all.
What are your plans for Halloween? I’d love to see all of your costumes and what you’ll be getting up to to celebrate.
