Hello my lovelies!
Since restarting the blog I’ve been wanting to do a weekly snippet, it gives me a bit of motivation to have a constant. Don’t get me wrong, I love my blog and I love writing, but sometimes I just want to blabber about what sort of a week I’ve had. And so The Weekly Weekend Roundup can hereby commence. Welcome!
This week started off with a load of werkwerkwerkwerkwerk, early mornings and spending my evenings binge watching TV series’ and bathing. I used an Experimenter bath bomb on Monday night and spent the whole of Tuesday dazzling like Edward bloody Cullen. I also had one of those soul crushing moments when you finish a book that you’ve been loving! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram (if not, why not? Eh? Ehhh?) you’ll know I’ve been harping on about Anna Kendrick’s book ‘Scrappy Little Nobody’. It was bloody brilliant and I grinned from cover to cover. Sophie and I have decided, from reading it, that Anna and ourselves could form the ultimate girl gang. Anna is just so relatable and even though all I’ve done is read a book written by a Hollywood star, I feel a little closer to her and genuinely like we could be friends!
I’ve been listening to so much Casefile that I finally got round to googling it to find out who the host is, only to find out he’s anonymous!! I’m not really too sure why this annoyed me, aside from to say that I am a nosy parker and I just like to have knowledge of things. So, MR AUSSIE ANON, reveal yourself. Casefile is bloody good though and if you have a some-would-say-weird sort of interest like me then I highly recommend it for your true crime listening erm, pleasure?
Broadchurch started again last week and I thought the first episode was actually a little slow, but I’m giving it time. I watched the first series on ITV player a good while ago now, but I spent the whole of my Tuesday afternoon into evening binging through series two as I spotted it on Now TV. 10/10 for that one from me! I also started Lauren Graham’s book ‘Talking As Fast As I can’ as soon as I finished Anna’s. I ordered both of these books at the same time and I’ve been looking forward to reading them for ages. Two strong, sassy females that I love and I’m sure I’ll have an update next week about how much I’m enjoying this one (a lot so far).
Wednesday night was date night. I had a cheeky discount code for Frankie and Benny’s and so we went there. We love our local one, it’s down on the river front and the staff are super lovely and as we go for breakfast a lot, we thought we’d switch it up and go for some date night garlic bread and calzone. After that we came home and got cosy and I read some more Talking As Fast As I Can and watched a bit of Friends. Chris had his very last day at his old job on Thursday, so he was up super early which meant I had the full bed to myself and as it was my day off I woke up pretty late, caught up on the latest episode of Broadchurch and then watched two episodes of a drama that’s been on BBC1 the last two weeks called The Replacement. If you’re majorly into British dramas like I am then, well 1. you’ve probably already watched it, but 2. if you haven’t, do it! It’s kinda weird and quirky but really gripping and gets you thinking a lot, plus Richard Rankin is a babe, isn’t he mum!? (I know you’re reading this). My best one popped round for a quick catch up in the afternoon, we chatted about her recent trip to New York and had some snacks and after she left I went back to my cocoon of nothing, as that’s how days off are just meant to be spent sometimes.
Friday was work and errands before WEEKEND FUN. It’s so rare that I get a weekend off, but Lills and I had road trip plans and so after a quick trip to town to grab some new work clothes with Chris, she picked me up and we set off on the two hour-ish drive to Manchesterrrrr. Lilly and I have had a bit of a gig bucket list going on and State Champs were the last of our faves to tick off. After getting to Manchester, we parked up and had a little wander to Primark as I wanted to see what Beauty and the Beast bits they had available there, as it’s three floors and HUGE compare to ours in Hull. The only thing I managed to pick up were some lovely peachy pink plimsol shoes with Belle on but I loveeeee them and think they will be perfect for the Spring (and to wear when I go and see the film of course). I also picked up a super cute pink/palm leaf bikini for my holiday this year, I’m all over this tropical print vibe at the moment and this is super cute, I love the style of the top. After Primark we wanted to eat, but being Saturday everywhere was super busy and so we trekked to a Nandos that I used to eat in all the time, near Chris’ old uni house, however it was bloody closed for a refurb, what a paaaain and so we ended up in a cute burrito bar (which still wasn’t as good as trusty Barburritos) on Oxford Road which was handily super close to the venue. I had a bloody massive veggie burrito and a beer before we headed across for a night of pop punk goodness. It was the sort of gig that reminded us we’re a lot closer to 30 than most of the kids in the crowd, however State Champs smashed it and we had a proper good lil boogie on the balcony upstairs. I might have to make this more of a regular spot for gigs in venues that allow it, great view, right next to the bar and not getting shoved around (I know, I’m too old for the mosh). I shared a lot of the gig over on my Instagram stories, so check those out if you’re a pop punk fan like meeeee, I’m @jordysniper over on there.
And now we’re here, Sunday. The day of chill. I don’t agree with working Sundays and they become my least fave day of the week when I do have to work them, even though I’m always home before 5. It just ain’t right. We got back pretty late last night, so this morning called for a lie in. Chris and I popped to the shop, to see the family and then came home with a McD’s. I’ve watched an almost three hour long Sam4God WDW vlog and had a power nap which was laaaaavely. Thanks if you’re still here with me on this super long weekly journey of mine. I do wanna try and keep these up as I they’re fun to keep on top of during the week and will be great for me to be able to look back at.
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week, let me know what you’ve been getting up to this weekend!
