I’m the sort of person that thinks I deserve a holiday just for mopping the floor and so I feel like it’s only natural that I have a travel bucket list. Here are a few short haul trips I’d love to take;
Berlin – Berlin is first on my list as I’ve only visited Germany once (school one day trip to the Christmas markets) and there are so many interesting things to do in Berlin! Chris and I are really interested in history, both having studied the world wars whilst at school/college and so there are a lot of museums and monuments in Germany that I’d be so interested to visit, namely the Holocaust Memorial.
Paris – The very first time I visited Paris, I was on the way back from a ski trip with school. We always went to a resort called Courmayeur in the Italian Alps and the five trips that I was extremely lucky to take were the absolute best of all of my time in school. One year on the coach home, we travelled through the night and early on the teachers told us if we shut up and got our heads down for a bit we might wake up in Paris. And we bloody well did! It was the middle of the night and we stepped off the coach right next the Eiffel Tower all lit up and it was incredible. Since then I’ve wanted to go back and experience Paris properly at night. We spent the day there before heading to Disneyland last year but it was such a mad dash that I just feel like I need more time. I fell in love with Paris that night and I’m desperate to return.
Rome – I’d be lying if I didn’t say that my main reason for wanting to go back to anywhere really in Italy wasn’t the food. Pasta, pizza and a shit ton of parmesan COME AT ME. Plus wine. However, Rome is stunning and I wanna go and throw my penny into to Trevi Fountain. Also how incredibly beautiful is the Colosseum? I have this thing about landmarks at night, I think everything looks better lit up at night time. So, Rome please.
Reykjavik – Okay maybe more of a long weekend turns into a week sorta trip but I finally started listening to my dad and his constant talk of wanting to go and see the Northern Lights, the older I got. After seeing so many peoples photos from trips to Reykjavik I am dying to go! The Blue Lagoon looks absolutely wonderful and the city itself is so picturesque and beautiful. The perfect Instagram holiday.
Barcelona – I’ve been to Barcelona before but only for the day and most of that was taken up by the tour of the Neu Camp, the home of FC Barcelona. Even if you’re not really a football fan I recommend this as you’re able to walk through the tunnel and onto the pitch which is incredible and the stadium is pretty breathtaking. I’m jealous of anyone who has a season pass and gets to spend their weekends there! So I’d love to do Barcelona again and properly experience it. I want to have a steady walk down Las Ramblas, take in the shops, bars and street performers. I want to eat outside a restaurant, sipping a jug of sangria. Perrrrfecttt!
Now someone get me on a plane! Have you visited any of these places, or are you desperate to? I’d love to hear your travel stories or wishes.
